I’ve been super into the cowrie shell look lately. It reminds me of the islands and I’m so glad these little shells are making a comeback. I took a beach trip a few days ago and stumbled on a couple of these little cuties so I decided to get craftsy with them. See how to make your own below!

Steps:

  1. Thread about 36 seed beads onto your wire and wrap it around the front, back, and sides of your cowrie shell.

  2. Thread 8 beads with your needle and attach it to the wire that surrounds your cowrie shell. Loop your thread back through your beads to create a dangling line of beads. Make some space and thread 8 more beads onto the wire. Create 7-9 more dangling bead lines depending on your desired look.

  3. Tie your thread to the top of your earring. Thread 7 beads with your needle then thread your earring hook through followed by 2 more beads. Loop your thread back through your beads missing the 4 surrounding your hook. Secure your thread and cut.

  4. Repeat these steps for the other earring.

  5. Wear your handmade earrings and smile.

PRO TIP: Tuck your wires and extra thread into your shell to hide it from sight. Use crazy glue to secure all knots from unravelling.
